The Pharmacy Service Level Alliance (PSLA) consists of clinical leaders from urban and rural Canterbury with the common purpose of:
- Recognising the role of pharmacists in the safe dispensing of medicines
- Increasing the role of the pharmacist in the multi-disciplinary team
- Improving patient concordance
- Optimising the use of financial resources and patient outcomes.
Two major priorities of work activity have begun:
- Revising the national pharmacy contract to develop a more flexible, less bureaucratic Canterbury agreement
- Promoting the development of a new service model with general practice and pharmacy working together.

National Contract
As stated above, Canterbury community pharmacy are looking to create a more flexible contract to support clinical innovation. While we accept a certain amount of detail must be included in a contract, we want to reduce any unnecessary barriers from the national contract and the procedures manual.
